I just noticed that the end tag [G] at the end of the topic previews on the front page (and at the end of an entry) now use the first character in the Poster’s name. [H] for me, [L] for Lilith [-] for -=Kay=-, etc…

Nice, I was wondering if you were gonna do that. 🙂

Suddenly it hits me

An old friend from High School is in town this week. Several of us that still keep in touch took the opportunity to have an impromptu get-together on Saturday. (Zhaneel, that would be why we didn’t make it to Gaskell’s – that and we forgot it was this past weekend.)

It was pretty cool to see Ed again. He’s a first year teacher at a small High School in Wisconsin, and he and his wife just bought a house. (I’m not even going to talk about that. Us west-coasters were quite jealous.)

Anyway, as we were hanging out in the living room of his parent’s house playing catch-up, exchanging palm apps (geeks, each and every one), and watching the Redwings, Hurricaines (3OT Oy!) — I had an epiphany: We were all adults. Married, or engaged (‘cept one couple – but I expect that to be changing soon…) some of us with babies, or expecting. Most out of school, and in our carreers.

Well duh – of course we are all adults. Have been for several years according to US law. But, I don’t usually think of myself as an adult. Adults are those people I work with, the people I pass on the street, or my parents, or my friend’s parents. I’m just me. Not an adult – not a kid – just me.

Edited for some grammer and typographic errors.

Configuring Windows XP – Wheeeee!

So my soon-to-be parents in law bought a new computer last week. I was kind of hoping they wouldn’t get bitten by the upgrade bug untill after the wedding, my fianceé (I can never remember if that is supposed to be one “e” or two) and I were planning to buy one for them as a thank you gift.

Anyway, Jenny and I drove up to her parent’s house this weekend to work on wedding stuff – specifically invitations. I feel kind of bad, because I didn’t do any addressing myself. Instead I spent the afternoon installing and configuring their new system. I only hit 2 snags:

1) An impoperly installed printer driver — Easily fixed.
2) A severe case of allergies brought on by the dust and pet hair behind the computer desk — Not fixed, but now bareable.

This blog is being written from thier new machine. This seemed as good a place as any to verify that thier dial-up connection was properly configured. 🙂

Now it’s time to run windows update. I have a feeling that is going to take a while.
