I don’t know how many of the folks here are dreamhost subcribers, and out of those who are, I don’t know how many of you read the monthly newsletter they send out, but July’s announced a couple of new things.
one was www.spam.la — basically a public spam dumping ground. Whenever you need a throw away email address for some site registration, use email@example.com Then go to http://www.spam.la and look for your confirmation email
Not going to work for everything, since many times you want to keep some info confidential, but it’s an interesting idea. I used it to verify that my phone numbers had infact been added to the new National Do Not Call Registry here in the states.
Just helping to get the word out. You don’t need to be a dreamhost subscriber to use spam.la, but if you’re looking for a good web hosting service (with all sorts of other neat extras) be sure to give dreamhost a look-see.
(yes that’s a plug *grin*)
