Getting our ducks in a row.

As I just said in my previous post, I haven’t been blogging much. One of the reasons is because I’ve been waiting (since December) to write this one. I almost blew it a couple of times commenting on frostedlexicharm‘s blog. So I stopped blogging at all for a while, (with the exception of a couple random “work” or “on the net” posts)

So without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to “Duckling”:

[Spoilers] [/Spoilers]

I’m pretty excited, Jenny and I both are. I’m a little scared too, but people keep telling me that I’m going to make a good dad. I hope they’re right. We don’t know what the gender is yet, we should be finding out in a few weeks. I’ll be sure to post an update.

The baby is due on August 28th, but of course that date is subject to change with no notice. 🙂

Some of the folks here already knew about Duckling, and I’d like to take a moment to thank you for not spilling the beans.

You’re probably wondering why we’re calling the baby “Duckling”. We haven’t picked names yet (we’ve talked about a few different ideas, so we are thinking about them.) However, we have decided on a duck motif for the baby’s room, (yellows and greens are good gender neutral colors) so we thought Duckling would be a cute nickname. Certainly sounds better than “it” since we don’t know the gender yet.

decides against using the “Announcements” category, even though it would fit…

Edit: Added spoilers text around the image at Jenny’s request.

  1. BTW: Jenny doesn’t like the Lavender flavored PreggiePops either.

She likes most of the others. Lexi: if you have any requests, we’re probably going to order another box soon. We’d be more than happy to get bag or 2 for you again.

This is the comment I almost posted back when Lexi first blogged about the lollies. you can see how it might have spoiled the announcement. 🙂

  2. FINALLY! I’ve been turning blue here, not letting on…. 🙂 I’d love some more preggie pops…I like raspberry, tangerine, lemon…but the minty ones I can get the same effect with tea. So…if you order one of the non-variety packs, or something, I’d be happy to donate to the cause, and receive pops for my donation. 🙂

  3. Thanks everyone. I’ve been wanting to say something for a while, but I also wanted to wait until Jenny was well into her second trimester.

Lexi, sounds like you’d like a Sour Fruit Bag. I’ll see what I can do. 🙂

Hooloovoo really means an order has just been placed. He loves the internet.

  4. Question…why wait until she was ‘well into her 2nd trimester’? Because…uhm…she’s not even into her 2nd trimester at all yet. You guys are only a week ahead of us, pregnancy wise, and we’re at 12 weeks, so you’re at 13…the 2nd trimester doesn’t even BEGIN until the 15th week. Trimesters are uneven, and are based on fetal development, not length of time.

and, TYVM!!!! for the fruit bag!

  5. Congratulations 🙂

Everyone seems to be getting pregnant at the moment. Must be something in the water out there o_O

  6. Congrats.

*looks around* NO BABIES HERE! *glares at her womb* And there won’t be for a while.

*sends all the fertility wishes people keep giving her to the women who are wanting babies*

    Zhaneel

  7. Okay perhaps I phrased that incorrectly. A more accurate statement would be that we wanted to wait until after the 3 month mark.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.

  8. Dana is also a very feminine name. Pick that one and when young Dana asks you “Daddy, what would my name have been if I was (other gender)?” you can honestly say “Why you would have been named Dana, of course!”

  9. Congratulations Hool! 🙂

I’ve never really gained the knack of interpreting static ultrasound pictures though, to me it looks like your dear Jenny is going to give birth to a broad-bean of some kind. 😉

  10. Actually the doctor described it as about the size and shape of a lima-bean. So you’re not that far off. 🙂 The static ultrasound pictures will probably be more interesting in a few months.

It was REALLY cool (and reassuring) to see the heartbeat on the screen, tho.

  11. I cried when I saw Eli’s heartbeat for the first time…and when I couldn’t see New Baby’s heartbeat right off, I kind of panicked, but the doc says it was going strong…I’ll get a second chance tomorrow at my appt, though!

i’m so excited we’re pregnant together! it’ll give you and simpsone something more in common!

  12. Ok, so I’m like the last to comment, but Congrats! The question is: are the cats prepared? Maybe you should start yanking on their tails on a regular basis to get them used to it 🙂

  13. I was wondering if you would come wandering this way, dude. You’d think we’d do a better job keeping in touch with all this modern technology and stuff…
