  1. Hmm, I just can’t get my head round Firefox. Just doesnt seem as ready to use as Opera – need to install a whole load of extensions to recreate my opera browsing experience, and since they’re 3rd party 2 of them have crashed firefox and another wants to be installed in Japanese. Hmmmmm. Can’t comment on if it installs on a locked down system as I dont have one 🙂

  2. One major difference I’ve noticed is that it seems as though Firefox actually installs into your system whereas Firebird ran from its own contained folder. Correct?

Edit: Firefox is good so far, though. I like it. Can’t tell much difference between it and Firebird, though.

Correct, which is why I cant install it at work. 🙁 I’ll just have to see if the “owner” of this box has admin rights or not. (Having to share a computer sucks.)

There isn’t much difference. Firefox = Firebird, they just changed the name when they did the point release (0.7 to 0.8) As i under stand it, most of the changes this time around are under the hood.

Effendi- I’m just curious, what extensions did you need (or want) to install to make it more like opera. mouse gestures is one. What else?

  4. I tried to install some of the stuff to do with tab management. Also the “paste and go” functionality with opera I now cant live without. As you say, mouse gestures also. I cant really explain it but I feel more comfortable in Opera now (although I still have to use IE for some asp based sites which opera cant handle) so just really cant be bothered with Firefox when Opera does everything I need. If I’d got to grips with Firefox first, I’d possibly like it over Opera, but I’m polarised now 🙂
