Uhm, Gossip?

Looks like Firefox 0.9 is doing funny things to g-blog.net page layouts. I’ve seen it with the default as well as the house of blues themes. The sidebar keeps getting expanded to 100% of the window width. I think the culprit might be the dropdown menus. However somethign’s different about the control panel and entry writing pages, as they appear to display fine.

I’d post screenshots, but I don’t have any decent image manipulating software on this machine. (Have you ever tried to resize an image in paint?)

  1. I don’t know if it’s firefox, because we’re using it, and no problems. But, I have previously experienced what you’re talking about, except with IE.

  2. Petrol told me about it the other day, and I didn’t see it, but yesterday I found out what he meant. Same thing you describe here. I’ll investigate.

  3. Just upgraded to Firefox 0.9 and that’s started happening to me. Ergh. :p

  4. Yes, but sweetness, before I was ‘converted’ and was using IE (whatever one of those we have), I had the problem too–can I get points for also having the problem?

  5. Yes, you all win.

Does the problem still occur? If yes, does it occur on the “read entry” page, but not on the “list entries / blog” page, like it does for me? Also, what theme are you using?

  6. I’m using the stormy night design (for g-blog), the default theme for moz firefox, and it’s occuring on all pages that are actually showing any blog content, by the looks of things.

  7. I’ve thrown a “width: 100%” out of the Stormy Night CSS file, that seems to have helped. Do a hard reload and see whether that fixed it or not.

  8. Yeah, whatever. 😉 I’m glad to see that I nailed the right problem right away, saves me from poking around in the dark. Thanks for your patience!

  9. As Zhan said, you do this by yourself mate…. thanks for your patience for putting up with us whiney bastards 😉

  10. Yeah, especially when the problem can be traced back to the CSS declarations of this particular whiney bastard…

(Do you think you could update House of Blues while you’re at it?)

  11. I did. All is well — or is it?

The initial problems were the style definitions in the dropdowns, and those were noted in the gluelets, so mostly, it was my fault to begin with. 🙂

  12. the default css for House of Blues still has the width : 100%; declaration in the .glue-helper class uncommented. (And I’m seeng the width blown out while using that theme.)
