So what do you do when…

your current web-host doesn’t return your calls or email?

I’ve been trying all wekend to notifiy my current host for hooloovoo.net that I’m switching providers. I need to cancel my account, and have them remove entries for hooloovoo.net from thier DNS servers.

I’ve sent email, I’ve called and left messages. I’ve even filled out their stupid feedback from (which I suspect just sends an email.) I’m not sure what else to do.

This is beginning to piss me off.

I’m getting married in the morning…

well actually – the afternoon.

I’ve spent most of the day running around doing things to get ready (picking up tuxes, making sure everyone got to the rehearsal, etc.) We had the rehearsal and the dinner, and I’m still pretty calm. I don’t think I’m going to get nervous tomorrow – everything just feels right.

It still seems like things haven’t really sunk in yet. While I was standing in my place going over the pieces of the ceremony with the minister, Jenny, the groomsmen, the bridesmaids, our parents, and our readers – I still felt like I was just a stand-in for someone else. Tomorrow will be a different story, I’m sure.

I’m at my future in-laws’ house right now writing this, and then I’m going to go hang out with some friends, before getting a good night’s sleep so I’m bright-eyed and bushy-tailed come tomorrow.

Anyway – I will not be blogging for a couple of weeks, since I will not be around and computers once we leave on our honeymoon. So have a blast, and I’ll see you all (err.. read your blogs/comments) when I get back in September.

Busy Weekend.

Took friday off due to illness – spent most of the day asleep.

Saturday morning was spent running errands – getting hair cut-n-colored for the wedding, picking up dry cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.

Saturday afternoon I drove up to Oakland for a dance lesson. Gaskell’s Ball was Saturday night, and I wanted a refresher on a couple of things. After the class, I went and had dinner, then went back and got ready for teh dance.

Jenny had to work Saturday, so she wasn’t able to attend the lesson, but was there for the ball. We danced, chatted with friends, and had a wonderful time. I resolved to buy some better shoes for the wedding. My feet were killing me by the end of the third set, so we left early.

On the way home we “went on an adventure – just like the Goonies” – I made a wrong turn, and we nded up finding a new way through Oakland tothe freeway.

Sunday we went up to Petaluma to work on more wedding stuff. Compared guest lists with Jenny’s mom, started calling folks who hadn’t replied yet, went to the tux shop to give them the measurements for the ring bearer. Found out who else hadn’t been measured yet. (My father was the only one – he also hadn’t sent his reply card back.) We got mixed up on the time we were supposed to meet with the minister to outline the ceremony. (I’m still trying to figure out how I got 4:00 from 1:30.) We rescheduled for 5:00. I’m glad we were able to still meet with him yesterday. Next weekend wouldn’t have worked.

We made a trip up to Cotati to visit a couple of friends before coming home. Thier 8-month-old son was born with some severe health problems, and they’ve been having a bit of a rough time. Things have improved a bit in the last couple of months, but Eli may still need a liver transplant within the next couple of years.

Eli is at an interesting stage of development. He recognizes faces and expressions, and will smile back at you. I spent some time entertaining him (and myself – and Jenny and Alexis from the other room) while the girls chatted in the kitchen, and Eric was preparing for the baby’s bedtime routine of tests and meds and such.

Eli is such a good, happy baby, (considering some of his heath problems,) and it’s tough hearing about and seeing some of what Eric and Alexis are going through.

Rafting Photos

I got the first of my rafting photos back.

This set is from one of the professional photographers in the area. Basically, as you are going down the river, there are stations set up at some of the more popular rapids. A photographer snaps a few shots, and you can go look at proofs the next day. Order the ones you want, and they are mailed to you a few weeks later.

There are 3 companies that had photos of us. This one works digitally, so the turn-around time is much faster than the others — and you can view and order additional prints online.

This is from a series of 6 photos that were just delivered on CD-ROM. (I took the time to resize and upload them to my web server. If you want to see larger versions, let me know.) I’ll be creating an interface to view the others on my web site. However, I’ve re-named them in a logical fashion, so you can probably figure out the URIs for the others without too much work. 🙂

I’m in the back of the boat, on the side closest to the camera. The dude up in the air was the guide. He was toying with the idea of doing a back-flip into the river at the bottom of this rapid. He bailed at the last second.

Wet Bachelor Party

I was going to mention this Friday, but I forgot about it until after we were on our way and I had no access to a PC. I did try writing a post from a buddy’s Kyocera Palm-Pilot/Cell phone while on the road. Only problem was his web browser wouldn’t save cookies, so I couldn’t log in to post. (I could read the site, and it was rendered pretty well.)

Anyway, this past weekend was my bachelor party. I decided that I wanted to go white-water rafting. Since I hadn’t been rafting in 8 years, (unless you count the “drunken barging” one 4th of July 2 years ago – I don’t) and we had some people (like my step father) who had never been rafting, we decided to do the South Fork of the American River which is mostly Class 2 with some Class 3 rapids. Pretty mild, but still a lot of fun.

We left Friday evening and drove up to a camp site on the American River. (It was Camp Lotus in case anyone is interested.) We set up camp (in the dark) and went to bed. Saturday morning, our guide showed up and provided breakfast, and then we were driven up river to the launch location. We rafted back down to the campground, (about 9 miles,) and had lunch. Then we launched from the camp site and rafted down to the take-out site at lake Folsom. (Another 11-13 miles or so.) Then we were driven back up to the camp site, had dinner (the best food EVER – probably because we were wiped out) and camped again. Sunday morning we broke camp and headed home.

The guide (who went by “Gunner”) was great, and we had a blast. I will be posting some photos from the trip on my website when we get prints from the professional photo company, (2-6 weeks,) and when I get the film from the water-proof cameras developed (a few days.)

And no – there weren’t any strippers on the boat or at the campsite.
