Hmmm… Interesting.

Wheeeee!
nothing to see here. Move along.
good times
Bad: Smelling cat urine somewhere in the house, but not being able to find it.
Worse: Finding said cat urine by stepping in it… while wearing socks.

The habit of writing
I have really gotten out of the habit of writing here. To tell you the truth, I’ve barely even visited the site in the last few months. If you look hard enough, you might spot a couple of comments here and there, but my participation has been scant, at best.
I’m working on a short series of entries that I plan to begin posting within the next week. I’m doing something a little different in writing them off-line because I want to take the time to make sure that I am communicating what it is I want to express clearly. A large part of what I have to say is going to be very difficult for me to write, let alone share.
My writing style has never been very structured, which is fine for a majority of what post here, but the entries I’m working on right now are too important for me to not take the time to craft them more carefully than I normally do.
There will be at least three installments. A majority of what I currently have planned as the second installment is already written. That piece was the catalyst for the project I’m outlining here. It needs to be cleaned up a bit, and I need to provide some context for it to really make sense. I started working on what will be the first installment tonight, which is really little more than an introduction. (I just laughed when I typed “introduction” – you’ll understand why after I’ve posted the first installment.) The third installment exists only as a nebulous cloud of ideas floating around in my head, and It’s going to be the hardest part to write. I know that because I’ve tried writing it before, and have yet to be able to do so with any semblance of coherence or clarity.
I suppose you can consider this “installment 0”, or a foreword, or something. It is little more than a rough outline of what I plan to do. It is also a way for me to commit to finishing what I’ve started. By telling the world, (or rather – the small part of it that will read any of this – ) a little bit about what I have planned, I am much more likely to complete it. I made a promise to myself that I would finish this project, and I made a promise to someone else that I would share it. This post is the first step to keeping both of those promises.
where does the time go?
was my last entry really 30 days ago?!
I really don’t want to be right.
If I’m right, it means that we have at least 2 weeks worth of work that will need to be redone.
I really don’t want to be right, but I’m afraid I might be.
And what really sucks is that I vocalized my concerns about this issue when it first came up (2 weeks ago). So if I’m right, I’ll at least have an “I told you so” – but I’d really rather not, in this case.
gah.
also: I need to get back into the habit of posting here. (how long have I been saying that now?)
returns to lurking in the corner and hoping that he’s wrong.
Can I have a do-over?
Thorny problems at work (all sorts of strange things going on in the labs) exacerbated by the fact that I’m running on an average of 4.5 hours sleep (2.25 hour increments) per night the last 4 nights. I want to curl up in a ball under my desk and hide right now. Can we just reset this week and start over from monday?
blahs
Haven’t felt much like posting recently. Here are some tidbits:
I still have a backlog of images to get online.
Justn had his first major cold last week. He’s 97% over now.
We’ve started giving him “solid” food. Rice cereal was first. Last week, it was peas. This week, it’s carrots.
Justin isn’t a fan of peas, (that could have been because of the cold,) but he does like carrots.
He’s also so close to crawling it isn’t even funny. He’s got the strength to hold him self up and the basic idea about the movments needed to propel himself forward, he just needs to finish putting it all toghether. (I wouldn’t be suprised if daycare says he’s done it when I go pick him up today.)
We’ve found new daycare. I don’t think I posted much about why we pulled him out of the old one, and I’m not sure I’m going to, either.
We’re going to Gaskell’s this weekend. (Justin will be spending the evening with his grandparents.)
We’re going to be in a wedding next month. I’m going to wear purple converse sneakers with my tux. 🙂
Work’s been much the same. New projects, same headaches.
That’s enough for now.
I suck
I haven’t posted any new pictures since mid-December. I should fix that one of these days. I’ve got a bunch of good holiday shots as well as some other random stuff floating around on my HD, backup CDs (from the computer migration), and camera.
I also haven’t written much about Justin and how he’s doing. (And how his parents are doing…) I feel like I really should be doing more of that.
how’s that for an entry (almost) completely void of content?

I should start playing volley-ball again
Volley-ball is one of my favorite leisure-time sports activities. I don’t neccissarily have the gratest skill, but its something that I really enjoyed playing during the summer or at company picnics and such. The only problem is that I get really competitive when it comes to playing.
I haven’t thought about playing volloey-ball for the longest time, but now I really want to. I wonder if it was the diving save I made in one of the labs as a piece of equipment that was being moved teeteered off the edge of the counter that did it…
I keep thinking to myself: “good dig!”
