Way past my bedtime

Uhm – It’s about 3:00am my time, and after 4 hours, I’m just now getting back online after deciding tonight would be a good night to wipe my computer and re-install the OS.

Couldn’t get the stupid freaking modem to be detected properly… not to mention the 3 or 4 times the system has “forgotten” about other pieces of hardware.

It looks like I have everything mostly under control now. I can get online, and that’s all that really matters. I’ll worry about installing the rest of my essential software tomorrow night.

Anyone currently using the Mozilla browser who is looking for an un-bloated (browser-only) alternative might want to take a look at Phoenix. It’s still VERY early in its life cycle, but I’m already digging it.

So, what happened to the other Theme Monkeys?

I just added a small template update for “House of Blues” to the dev version of g-blog as well as a new “Stormy Night” theme. Once Gossip checks them in, you should be able to choose the new theme in your CP.

“Stormy Night” is basically the same as “House of Blues”, but in grey. Let me know what you think. 🙂

So, I’m listening to www.cnetradio.com right now, and they’re talking about a linux distibution called Lycoris.

I’m thinking about trying it out.

Okay – THIS is cool

I just downloaded and burned a copy of Knoppix.

Basically it’s a version of linux desiged to be run off of a CD – no installation needed.

I’m now running a KDE desktop and writing this entry from within Konqueror. When I’m done, I just shut down, pop out the CD and boot back into Windows.

Would someone like to tell me who thought it would be a good idea to have the close tab button in Mozilla actually close the tab bar when I have only one tab open AND I have a preference set to always show the tab bar?!

I’d file a bug on it, but a search of bugzilla reveals that this issue is already being discussed. I really hope they change this new behavior. That button should be disabled when there’s only one tab open. (Especially if I’ve set the preferrence to always show my tab bar.) You want to hide the tab bar? Use the View > Show/Hide > Tab Bar menu option.

It seems others agree with me. That makes me feel better, (as does this little rant.)

Sorry – just felt like bitching. Other than that, I’m liking Moz 1.1b

Some jokes never die…

So I was looking at some different Mozilla resources today when I came across this little gem.

When I took a look at the “registration” page, I thought of Gossip.

realizes that last statement could be misinterpreted – but doesn’t really care. It’s funnier this way.
