The email address I use here got scraped (since I’m pretty sure Gossip wouldn’t sell it.) It was a “generic” name (blogger@…) that I used on a few different sites. I’ve updated my address here and on the glue forums to make sure they’re both unique, and I’ll be blocking mail sent to the old address.

Forged Email Headers
What do you do if some spamming dickhead decides to forge their headers to make it look like all the crap they’re sending is coming from your domain?
I’ve already put a help ticket in with my hosting provider reporting the problem, and I’m archiving all the bounceback messages. I’m not sure what else there is to do. I don’t really have the time right now to sift through all these messages trying to track the culprit(s) down.

Do people actually fall for these scams?
Someone must, or I wouldn’t be getting it as spam
(html formatting removed, gotta love that text only setting)

I left the form tags basically intact. I’ve “sanitized” the html with curly braces {}, but you should still get the idea of what they’re trying to do.
Gah – stupid spammers.
is excited about using the new “people are broken” category
Gallery Updated
I spent some time this evening (well, this morning – if you want to get all technical about it) updating my online photo gallery. There is a new “Botanical Garden” album, as well as a few new photos in the “Tea Garden” album.
I’ve still got a bunch of film to develop, so I’ll be updating again before too long.
BTW, I’m willing to convert just about anything you see in the albums into wallpaper, provided I have a high enough reslolution version of the image. Feel free to let me know image, size, and preferred file format and I’ll try to put something together for you.

more promise breaking linky-linky
a quick link to what looks like a very good color picker, which includes settings so you can see how some colorschemes would look to people with various types of color-blindness.
I need to find a the links I had to a couple of other resources like this and post them too.

Here’s the article i found that links to the above color [Link]
robably more to come
Why didn’t anyone tell me that Mozilla FireBird 0.7 was out?
Here I am innocently attempting (I think successfully) to convince a coworker that he should switch to Mozilla FireBird when I discover that it was recently revved.
must be sure to download the new version, after checking the release notes, when I get home. Or I could just order a CD…
(BTW – this entry represents the breaking of a promise I made to myself last week. Look for an entry related to the AK trip last month to appear “below” this one in a couple of days. It’s currently marked private because I havne’t had a chance to clean it up. Something I promised myself I would do before posting another entry.)

Mmmmm, internet based political satire….
Hooray for the Internet Archive
Looking for the street address for a company that doesn’t exist anymore? (One you worked at as a contractor for six months almost 7 years ago?)
Try using the WayBack Machine: http://www.archive.org to search for the company’s contact info on an archived version of their site.
Too bad I wasn’t able to recover an old version of my resume I had posted online the same way.
My blogging email address got scraped.
I’m not sure from where – I’ll have to try to remember where else I’ve used the address I have associated with my blog – none of gossip’s sites display it (AFAICT)
Anyway I just got my first piece of spam sent to it. For those of you that are intereseted (and everyone else who isn’t) it looks like a new variation of the 419 Fraud:
